Achooooo… take 2… and a trip to the ER…woohoo!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I am feeling quite a bit better, although still “under the weather”… still sneezing and coughing and blowing my runny nose… oh, and I have a headache.

Really, I AM better, which tells you just how BAD it was over the weekend!

I was hoping to get caught up on a few things today, but my little guy, lil Allan… he’s definitely got the cold.  And a bit of the croup.  The ER doc said so.

Yes, that’s right.  We ended up in the ER again last night due to croup.  The GOOD news is that it wasn’t so bad that we needed an ambulance this time.  The bad news is that we were in the ER from around 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.   So sleep?  We didn’t get much of it.  But I’m trying to look on the bright side -  the fact that it only took 2 hours from start to finish for an ER visit… I shouldn’t be complaining much.

And just for the record - there isn’t anything more pitiful AND adorable at the same time as a 3 year old with a cold and the croup.  Sniffles and snuffles and gravelly voice and a little extra whining… (yep, it’s a good thing he’s as cute as a button, because the whining could get old REALLY fast for this Mama who is still sick too).

So… I think I’ll take another day to hunker down with my little ones, away from the computer.  Hopefully I’ll feel up to more blogging tomorrow, because I have an anniversary to celebrate!  And when I celebrate, I usually like to give away things.  Keep your fingers crossed that Martha doesn’t come down with the cold, because I really, really wanna celebrate!  (And keep your fingers crossed that Mama gets a nap - or two - today!)

Have a happy Tuesday, folks!

The Thrifty Thursday that didn’t happen…

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Since my husband is out of town this week, you’d think I have a lot of extra time.  And in some ways, yes I do.  But I’ve been using it to get my home in shape, and I’ve been behind on computer time.  For that reason, I decided to do an abbreviated Thrifty Thursday post today, and just post the recurring sales/specials for this week. Below that, I set up Mr Linky, so please FEEL FREE to post links to your own sales this weekend (or if you CT for someone, post their links).

Thanks so much folks…. and I’m off to do more sorting and cleaning!

Recurring weekly specials for Thursday:

Getting started with Digi Scrap Chat…

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s digi-scrapbook blog question. I’ve received several private email which have been VERY helpful and appreciated. (It’s not too late to give me your opinion, btw!)

One thing that was clear to me from the email I received - I haven’t done a very good job of letting you know about some of the resources here on the site. So, with that in mind, let me share a few links with you!

  • If you are new to digital scrapbooking, or have questions about various parts of digi-scrapping, I have put together a FAQ page HERE.
  • One of the MOST frequent questions asked is “where/how do you print your layouts when you digi-scrap?” I have answered that question HERE.
  • I have compiled a HUGE list of digi-scrap blogs for your reading pleasure, and the list is HERE. If you want to have YOUR digi-scrap blog added, just send me an email!
  • A rather popular concept in the digi-scrappin’ world is “Grab Bag Reveals“. Designers create mystery grab bags, with a “lotta stuff” in them, and then offer them for a really low price. However, if you are like me, you don’t want to buy a mystery bag without knowing what is inside. (And yes, I shake my Christmas presents to try and figure out what they are ahead of time… and I refuse to feel bad about that.) ANYWAY, I started offering reveals and/or links to reveals here a few weeks ago. It isn’t the main focus here at DigiScrapChat, but I do offer the service when I receive previews. To see the most recent Grab Bag Reveals posts, click HERE. To send me previews, write an email to gbreveal@digiscrapchat.com . To read my “rules” about the previews, click HERE
  • I offer a “Thrifty Thursday” post every week that includes sales and specials - both new and recurring. You can check out this last week’s post HERE (although most of the sales are probably over now). If you are a designer, you can email me your info, or come here to post the info using Mr Linky.
  • What is Mr Linky? It’s a little “widget” that makes it easy for others to add their links to my blog post (as opposed to adding the link to the comments). I use it for Thrifty Thursday, and other special posts where I might receive lot of links that should be shared. Yes, I COULD use the comment section, but I like seeing the list right in the post.
  • And speaking of adding links - I ENCOURAGE you to leave links in the comments or Mr Linky when that is set up in a post. Don’t ever hesitate to leave a link to a sale, a new kit that is just awesome, a layout that people NEED to see, etc. As long as the link is appropriate and relates to digital scrapbooking in some way, you are good!
  • And just a little note to Designers - I offer a lot of chances around here for you to advertise your site and yourself. I have paid advertising options, I have Thrifty Thursday (mentioned above), I encourage link-leaving, and I also have a feature called Designer Showcase. (I would love to write more Designer Showcase posts, but I’ve had a dickens of a time getting responses back from my interview questions).

And that’s enough for today - I know there is more, but I don’t want to overwhelm anyone!  If you are looking for something, but can’t find it, please leave me a comment or send me email (char@digiscrapchat.com).

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

A Question… digital scrapbook blogs?

Monday, September 1st, 2008

It’s almost time for fall (oh, I hope it is anyway - it’s been the longest, hottest summer here in Las Vegas!), and every year around this time, I start to get introspective. I start thinking about everything I’m doing… what is working and what is NOT.

I know - it’s a little early for these “new year” kinds of thoughts, but I am nothing if not an over-achiever, so I have to start mulling such things FAR before the New Year comes. (Plus, September/the onset of fall signifies “new” to me - probably because school was such a big deal to me, and September means it’s time for a new school year ).

So, that’s the background to my question… how about the actual question already?

What do you look for in a digital scrapbooking blog? What kinds of topics would you like discussed at a blog like DigiScrapChat? If I could improve THIS blog (ok, I may as well just ask what I’m wanting to know, eh?), what would you suggest I do to improve it tomorrow? And the next day? I have my own ideas, based on traffic and responses to posts, but I’d like to get actual opinions. (And I have thick skin, so let me have it)!

Summing up - what am doing right, what am I doing wrong, and what could be done better? If you are new here, just share your thoughts about successful digi-scrap blogs in general, will you?

P.S. And if you have a FAVORITE digital scrapbooking blog that you read every day, a blog that is doing their thing right, can you share a link? I’d love to copy see what others are doing well!
