Do you have a dollar you can spare?

It’s not for me… it’s for a little boy named Alexander.
He lives in Kenya, and he has a heart defect. An ASD, to be exact. You can read more about it here at Compassion International’s blog.
I read about Alexander’s story on BooMama’s blog, and it… well… touched my heart right away.
You see, I was born with a heart defect too. Mine was a VSD, versus Alexander’s ASD, but really the problems the defects cause are about the same.
The difference between me and Alexander? I was born in America, to parents who had health insurance. I think the open heart surgery I had at the age of four cost my parents around $100. I had the TOP pediatric cardiologist/surgeon at the time, and he did a pretty fantastic job fixing me up. (Although I might have to have surgery again in a few years – having babies put a little too much pressure on my heart, and they may have to repair it again. But if so? I still have insurance, and it will likely still not cost much more than $100).
But Alexander? He needs over $8000 to get the surgery that will save his life. It’s such a small amount in the big scheme of things, but to his family? Insurmountable. He needs this money, and this surgery. Will you help?
Again, you can read more HERE. Please consider donating… as BooMama said, even one dollar will help!
